Music Comes Out On Friday's Now!!!!!!!!!

I know this is a strange request, but we want you to forget everything that you know about new music releases and music distribution. We're serious just forget it all. You'll thank us later. You don't even need that stuff any more.

Nowadays new music is gonna come out on Friday instead of Tuesday. I know it's crazy, but it's happening. Starting this month, new music will be physically released on Friday. That means that new music will come out on FRIDAY, JULY 10TH this week. This is just something that the music industry came up with so that every country released physical albums on the same day. This was not our decision. We cannot give you new music on Tuesday, not even if you ask for it real nice like.

In a couple of months, we will probably forget that new music even came out on Tuesday. We'll get through these changes together. Ask real nice like, and we might even hold your hand.  :)

I Must Have Done Something Right

The distinguished J4CK 0F H34RT5 contemplates how
much will be left in his savings account after this week's new music.

Music for this week has officially made my socks fall off. Not only do we have THREE versions of the Led Zeppelin remasters, AND American Analog Set's "Know By Heart" on vinyl for the first time (One of my favorite albums!), AND re-pressings of the soundtracks from "ParaNorman", "Ghostbusters", and "Coraline", we've got new music from: Sage Francis, Fu Manchu, Soundgarden's "Superunknown" re-issue, Centro-Matic, Birdy, the Orwells, Peter Murphy of Bauhaus, Hamilton Leithauser's solo debut, Echo & the Bunnymen, Parquet Courts' ridiculously awesome third album, Die Antwoord, Diarrhea Planet, the Morrissey "Vauxhall & I" reissue, Dave Alvin's tribute to Big Bill Broonzy, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Gold-Bears' second album (worship the fuzzy reverb pop), Bob Mould, Randy Travis's Christian album, and Tigers Jaw's debut (give it a listen; it's surprisingly great), as well as so much more. This week is huge!

New Music!

New music for today--it's a big week!
We have new releases from the Black Keys, Chromeo, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Swans, John Mayall, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, Young Widows, Kishi Bashi, and Michael Jackson (I have no idea what is going on in the album art, by the way.)
                                                                               *****
In case you missed it, we have Neil Young's "A Letter Home" back in stock
on vinyl, and a limited edition 7" single if you purchase tune-yards' album from last week.
*****
I should be putting more half-off vinyl into the clearance bin this week!

Ride On

The Smashing Pumpkins-- Oceania
I am shockingly not as disappointed in Oceania as I thought I'd be.  The first track ("Quasar") is six kinds of grungy, dirty 90's-style Pumpkins rock--stupid lyrics included.  And I liked it--quite a bit in fact.  But there are only one or two other songs I could get behind, and the album as a whole was quickly overwhelmed by Billy Corgan's lyrical pretension and whiny love songs. It's still better than Zeitgeist, though--and Machina for that matter.
(But I'd like to add that I'm kinda creeped out by the new line-up's physical resemblance to the band circa 1995.)

New Cat Power CD/LP 9/14

Stereogum presents a dead-on accurate "Premature Evaluation" of Chan Marshall's new Cat Power album, Sun, which, oddly enough, I agree with. Funny how I'm always agreeing with dead-on, accurate assessments, but it is what it is.
Read it. And listen to the three tracks available at the end of Tom Breihan's review.
CDs and LPs will be available at the store Tuesday, September 14th, along with (probably not all that many) limited edition deluxe double LP + 7s bearing two non-album tracks, both on clear vinyl.
